About Me

I am Beth Roche (BA Hons) Education specialising in Early Years, with Qualified Teacher Status. I am a highly experienced Early Years Teacher and am passionate about working with babies, young children and their parents.

I decided to set up Early Signs as I love signing with my baby and I truly believe that it enhances the bond between us. I also loved my work as a Teacher in Nurseries and Children’s Centres, and my training in Makaton – basic sign language. I felt that my enthusiasm and skills could join together perfectly to make a wonderful session for other parents to enjoy with their babies.

By day I love going to baby groups with my little one, Evan, who excitedly greets other babies. I love using my wrap with him, and carrying him on my back. I often get stopped by people commenting on how comfy and happy he looks, and asking me how I get him up there. If I have time I demonstrate, but if not I point them to some of the website which got me started with it, like:

Rumplebums - a great place to buy or trade slings and wraps

I became fairly proficient at a number of front holds and hip holds, but struggled to feel confident getting Evan on my back. That was until I found a fantastic mum who also wrapped with her little one, who helped me to get Evan on my back. He now loves it, and bounces up and down gleefully when we are out and about. A great place to learn is at Sling Meets, there is a local one who arrange meets through a yahoo egroup called White Rose BabyWearers. Or there is a website designed for Sling Meets across the country. Alternatively if you come to my groups I can help you to do it. Either bring along a wrap or sling which you have, or try out mine.

When I'm not out and about with Evan I am also membership secretary for the local NCT, for Sheffield and Rotherham. I'm very new to the role, and excited about being able to help.

In the evenings I turn into a Life Coach, and chat to people over the phone helping them to understand their lives and what positive actions they can take to get where they want to go.

And just in case I haven't got enough to be getting on with I am a HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator, I love helping people to have a really positive birthing experience. I recently became involved with my local Homebirth group, which helps people feel comfortable with birthing their babies at home, and gives people who have done so a chance to talk to others about their experiences.
